THE ITALIAN NATURAL SWEATER

Made of 100% pure organic wool and natural dyes. Fortunale is an entirely natural sweater but at the same time, incredibly soft, made of natural wool, and dyed with natural pigments free of chemical additives. Every sweater is produced in Italy by specialised artisans.

FORTUNALE – THE WIND THAT CHANGES FASHION

The Fortunale is an atmospheric perturbation of exceptional intensity, whose name originates from the term fortune linked to the fate of many mariners obligated to navigate in dangerous meteorological situations. Tenacity, strength and the capacity to change the status quo, are the characteristics Fortunale wants to inherit to shift the fashion’s world for the best.

Fortunale is entirely eco-friendly, and it is inspired by modern principles of circular economy. Materials transformed into objects often remains unused for the majority of its life. A Fortunale sweater is designed, from its origin, to be recycled at the end of its natural use.

Fortunale is a sweater of pure wool, and this precious characteristic allows to regenerate its fibres into new prime materials. The total absence of synthetic fibres enables to recycle a sweater up to 80%. Fortunale will be glad to accept a return of your old Fortunale in exchange for a 30% discount on a sweater of the new collection: a small incentive to appreciate our philosophy.

Even the packaging is entirely reusable. Every sweater is shipped in a recycled cardboard box designed to be reutilised as a perfect container. Fortunale wants you to reuse it, so they developed it with high-quality materials and an attractive design.

1OO% ORGANIC WOOL – 1OO% RESPECT

Animal-rearing is possible even in full compliance with their life conditions, safeguarding their free grazing through genuine fields that have not been treated neither with polluting nor with dangerous antiparasitic substances. Sheep coming from organic rearings receive care and attentions every single day, without being tortured or abused at all, giving in return extremely high quality pure wool. The only one selected and chosen to make a Fortunale garment.

1OO% MADE IN ITALY – 1OO% TRADITION

Fortunale collections are drawn by an Italian fashion designer team, boasting a solid experience in the field. They are developed in Italy by laboratories specialized in the production of garments of excellence which can take advantage of the most modern textile technologies and the skillful hands of the most expert tailors. A Fortunale jumper is a genuine Made in Italy garment, meeting the last fashion trends and comfort needs of the most demanding customers. Each jumper is controlled and hand finished, before being ready for shipment. Quality as mission.

1OO% COLOUR – 1OO% NATURE

Fortunale dyeing processes recall natural ancient receipts, improved by in-depth studies and exclusive textile technologies. The result? Knitwear coloured with more than 200 natural ingredients, such as flowers, leaves, berries and roots, giving a Fortunale jumper unique colours and shades. Nature blends with technology in the innovative dyeing process, far from any chemical substances. That’s why it was awarded in worldwide exclusive the prestigious Woolmark Approved Natural Coloration Technology. The best way to take care of nature and of our skin.

FORTUNALE WILL PLANT A TREE FOR YOU!

WHO’S IVAN ALOISIO: FOUNDER OF FORTUNALE

“My story begins forty years ago, in a provincial town named San Chirico Raparo, attached to mountains and surrounded by forests, secular oaks, broom plants and their gentle scent.

A vital place for me, because I was born there, in my grandparent’s home. There, our family business, a textile industry, was also conceived, thanks to the courage of my parents willing to realise their dreams.

I grew up between yarn cones and fabric scraps, playing around textile machines and ironers, with their enchanting vapours. The textile industry was my home and with time became my passion. This passion then became my duty and dedication. To this day I have the honour and responsibility to lead our family business.

Through the years, the firm expanded and moved to the manufacturing district of Cassano delle Murge, in Puglia, a small town in southern Italy, immersed in nature and surrounded by the majestic Mercadante’s Forest. Our collections substantially improved, we exported in various international fairs like Paris and Dusseldorf and our products were bought by major European buyers. It was an incredibly productive period for me, and I was able to meet several clients and providers. During this time, I was also able to distinguish, with clarity, the negative aspect of the fashion industry: textile industry waste. For instance, the toxic materials utilised in dyeing facilities, color waste poured into rivers, or the myriad of synthetic and plastic materials that we wear every day. This awareness created an intense conflict in me which grew significantly after my son, Jacopo, was born. An immense joy, accompanied by a continually growing sense of responsibility and a persistent question: What could I have done for his future?

That moment signified a stark change, and I decided to create a different kind of industry, one able to prioritise the quality of the “made in Italy” while simultaneously respecting the environment, nature and the well-being of works and consumers alike.

I never imagined this but, five years ago, alongside my son Jacopo, the project Fortunale was also becoming.” – IVAN ALOISIO
